John Wieschhaus: Outdoor Adventurer, Creative Director and Senior Designer
Just say “go” on the project and the art direction and design engines in John Wieschhaus fire up instantly. He’s sketching ideas as quick as he can. He mentally goes through photos of people and situations that offer a springboard into great solutions. John has been sketching since his grade school days in the rest rooms. But now he’s learned the value of starting with a smart strategy to get great results. He works with the best copywriters in Atlanta so the copy resonates with the reader on an emotional level first and then sells itself in on points that are credible to the reader.
John has honed his creative skills over the last 16 years by working with some of the best advertising agencies and creative talent in the country. He was recruited to Atlanta from Young & Rubicam in Kansas City, Missouri to work for Doyle Dane Bernbach, then on to Bozell, Inc, WestWayne, Freebairn and Company before going on his own. Now he calls his new business Wish Haus Art Direction and Design to help pronounce his last name. He continues to get assignments from people who have worked with him before, were referred to him or have seen his portfolio.
His work has been recognized in the local awards shows over the years as well as the national creative shows for his consumer and B2B work. His portfolio contains TV, print advertising, collateral, catalogs, POS, outdoor, direct mail and trade show materials.
His client work includes BellSouth, Amdro Fire ant killer, Aaron Rents, BP and Castrol heavy duty lubes, SunTrust Bank, Century Security Bank, American Cyanamid, Union Carbide, AGCO, Case IH, Kubota, Skylight Financial, Chamberlin Edmonds Revenue Recovery, Healthfield Home Health, Aerotek and Onsite Staffing, Saia Motor Lines, Spartan Express Motor Lines, Atlanta Motor Lines, Western Star Trucks, Great Dane Trailers, Eureka! tents, Silva compasses, Camp Trails backpacks and Simmons mattresses.
His wife, who is a special education teacher, still questions the stop light from a photo shoot that hangs in the basement family room. His daughter and two sons have not chosen the creative profession but say they enjoy the stories. John’s an Eagle Scout, an Army veteran and licensed river guide in the states of Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Colorado. John thinks creativity is a state of mind not a department.
